There is a horrible Windows Bug/Virus/Worm out there named Conficker or Downadup. It is a malicious little program spreading quite rapidly through the Internet, infecting millions of computers as you read this. Unfortunately, there’s no “single” solution as of yet. The worst part about this program is that it’s stealing people’s identities and will possibly, in the next day or two, steal lots of identities the same day and/or crash people’s computers.
How can you fix things, right now?
The way we’ve been recommending for 11+ years.
Do your Windows Updates: (Open up …

With our battered economy, we want to get the best price for every thing we buy. It’s deals, deals, deals! A week from tomorrow is “Black Friday,” where there will be tremendous shopping deals, as it’s the beginning of the holiday season. I will be covering this in more detail in future blog posts.
Did you know there are “Deals of the Day” every day with Woot and Price Grabber? There is usually one item (or set of items) which have a great price for only 24 hours.
An example today on …

So, I’ve posted my latest ezine. Some good stuff, if I do say so myself

In this issue, we delve into mobile internet stuff, watching movies and the battle of two ultra-light notebooks. The biggest news of all – quite possibly the “iPod killer” everyone keeps talking about – is the G1 or as I affectionately call it – the GooglePhone It’s really an HTC phone with Google’s new operating system, Android on the phone. I’m sure by the end of the year there will be lots of Android-powered …

Google Phone – Android
9/27/2008 UpdateT-mobile Live Event Transcription – phone has been officially announced and will be ready for sale on 10/22/2008. The phone is dubbed the “G1.”
There really isn’t a “Google Phone,” per se, but it sounds better saying Gphone or Google Phone, than Android.
Android is a new operation system (platform) developed by Google that can be adopted by all the cell phone manufacturers. T-mobile is the first. It joins Palm, Windows, iPhone and Symbian operating systems among many others. I hoping Verizon adds it next!
When the T-mobile phone …

Watch Netflix movies on your TV

A simple little, $99 box, Netflix player made by Roku, was released for purchase about 4 months ago. I wrote Netflix
for a test unit and got one a few days later. Within 2 days, I was up and running watching my “streaming” queue from
Netflix on my TV in about 5 minutes. All you do is hook up the box to your receiver/TV, plug it in, and plug in either an
ethernet cable or enter wireless settings for your wireless network. …

Ouch! My lap with my laptop on it is hot!
Well, there I was at my local Costco and this funky plastic thing caught my eye near the external hard drives. It was scooped in nature. Kinda looked like this:
There are three cool things about this:
1) It’s USB Powered (past laptop pads had to be battery powered or plugged in).2) It’s quite light.3) Costco – as seen below – sells it for 50% of listing price!
See more Belkin Products.

Lenovo x300 vs Mac Air
Am working on a client’s Lenovo x300 (I do this for a living!), getting it all spruced up and ready for the scary and exciting world of the Internet. Decided to post a few fun videos of this amazing piece of computer architecture. I’ve seen the Macbook Air. I’ve now worked on the Lenovo x300. Dang, there’s no comparison. Macbook Air feels like it will break any minute. The Lenovo is solid like all the other Lenovos I’ve worked on, starting with the T20. It weighs …

AVG 8 “missing .bin file” – AVG Update Issue

There’s a technical glitch with AVG Anti-Virus free – update today – August 16th. It seems to be affecting all users – worldwide. Read more about it on this forum.
My guess is that Grisoft is working feverishly to fix this problem, as they have millions of users.
Until that time, you have at least 3 choices:
1. Wait at your computer for the update, all night long, for the next update which will fix this problem, most likely on Sunday, 8/17.2. Fix the update …
