Every city, it seems, in the SF Bay Area has free weekly concerts. Does it get better than this? Below you will find a random list of cities offering free concerts. If you’re playing in one of these bands, feel free to post your site here and let us know about your band. If you know of another city offering free concerts, post it here and I’ll update my list! Before we get into the “main event,” we want to share something new.

Drawing from influences such as the guitar-driven sounds of the Allman Brothers to the greasy down-home grooves of RL Burnside to the improvisational journeys of the Grateful Dead with the folk harmonies of the Wood Brothers. Hibbity Dibbity is rapidly becoming a must-see band in the San Francisco music scene.

July 2 • Funk & Rock – Sinister Dexter
Sinister Dexter is a ten-piece soul machine that brings the unique sound of the great funk horn bands to a club near you. Featuring our sensational vocalist Rebecca Lipon, a hot five-piece horn section, and a tight rhythm section.

July 9 • Bluegrass / Bean Creek
Bean Creek is a bluegrass band that plays straight ahead traditional style bluegrass. This band was voted Best Band this year by the Northern California Bluegrass Society and also captured Best Vocalist, Best Banjo Player, and Best Mandolin Player . Vocal harmonies and fine pickin’ places Bean Creek in the top echelon of the California traditional bluegrass scene. Band members include Billy Pitrone on guitar and vocals, Sarah Eblen on bass and vocals, Rob Horgan on banjo and Peter Hicks on mandolin, fiddle and vocals.

July 16 • Celtic Rock / Tempest
Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Folk Rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. The last 25 years have seen the San Francisco Bay Area based act release fifteen critically acclaimed CDs and play more than 2,000 gigs. It’s also enjoyed an evolving line-up that’s enabled musicianship and creativity to rise with each new member

July 23 • Acoustic Blues / Mighty Mississippi
Mighty Mississippi is a popular acoustic Blues trio from the San Francisco Bay Area. The band delivers a spoonful of Southern comfort that harkens to the bygone days of juke joints playing Blues on hot summer nights. From classics to original compositions, the music is raw and unplugged, with heartfelt lyrics; the way the Blues was born. Enough said….

July 30 • Rock, Motown and R & B / Retro Rockets
For over ten years The Retro Rockets have been rock’n the bay area performing classic rock and roll with a special emphasis on the music of the mid 60’s to the mid 70’s. Many of the songs we play you just won’t hear live anywhere else.

August 6 • Swing / Rhumba / Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums
STEVE LUCKY & the RHUMBA BUMS are a highly entertaining band from San Francisco featuring Steve Lucky’s soulful piano and vocals, and the vivacious Miss Carmen Getit’s vocals and acclaimed guitar.

The Soul Section is a Bay Area band with it’s primary focus on the great funk and soul music of the 60’s and 70’s. They also draw favorites from the deep well of music of the entire Rock era. This group of experienced musicians share a passion for live performance and a solid dance beat.
