We keep rolling on with more Palm OS news and cool software. I’m continually inundated with more and more questions about the Palm, so I’m giving it a bit more airtime with this Part 3 of the series. I’ve also thrown in a little culture this time, the writings of Langston Hughes.

Enjoy,
Clyde

Langston Hughes – Famous American Poet

April 2nd was Langston Hughes day. He was an amazing poet of the 20th century. He was prolific and a very thoughtful, insightful writer. I encourage you to read (and listen!) to his writings.

Cool Palm OS Software Programs

As you all know, the Palm comes with built-in software for basic tasks (Address Book, Date Book, To Do list and Memo Pad). Due to the hugely successful Palm OS platform, many people have written software to replace and or supplement the built-in software. Most of it is very inexpensive and is quite powerful. I would highly suggest you check out the links below and see where your Palm needs can be fulfilled. I would LOVE to hear if you have a software product for the PALM OS you would like to share with me (and the rest of the readers). I will put in next newsletter.

Address Book

This is probably the best utility for the Palm I own. I use it daily. It’s so easy to look up names and numbers. It has a great color interface, too.

Backing Up

Another wonderful utility that backs up every application and data on handheld to your hard disk. They have a version to backup to inserted card as well. Works great!

Date Book

These are address book alternatives. I’m currently using Datebook 4 (which will soon be Datebook 5). I love it for it’s linking feature that allows you to link appointments to contacts with ease. Both programs come with cute icons to show type of appointment.
