Vegetarianism - Living a Healthier Life There are some evil things happening with regards to raising (or should I say producing) animals these days. The Mad Cow disease is still raging, but there's a new disease in the news "Newcastle Disease" found in chickens. This disease was discovered in October 2002 and proper quarantine measures have not stemmed the rise of infections - as evidenced by the 16,000 chickens recently killed when a few of them had the disease. According to the governor of California, "Exotic Newcastle Disease is a devastating bird illness that has the potential to wipe out the poultry industry." Hmm...it can wipe out the poultry industry, but not harm humans. Something seems incongruent here. I'm thinking if the chickens are treated humanely, like animals, rather then as producible units, would these diseases continue to flourish? There are 2 cool restaurant guides.
